Application-specific thin-film strain gauges (DMS) are being developed as part of various research projects with industrial partners. They are manufactured in a vacuum coating process (sputtering). This is followed by the characterisation of the resistive sensors presented here with regard to their electrical and mechanical properties as well as their temperature sensitivity. The most important parameter here is the k-factor, which reflects the strain sensitivity. This allows the physical measured variable to be assigned to the electrical measurement signal.
