Workshop on microsystem sensors and actuators within the strategic partnership of Leibniz Universität Hannover and Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University

The cooperation between Leibniz Universität Hannover and Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University (SPbSPU) (Russia) is steadily evolving for already more than 33 years. Over the tims more and more institutes and research groups are getting involved in this cooperation. In October, the delegates of SPbSPU attended a workshop in the Centre for Production Technology (PZH) in Garbsen. It was hosted by the Institute of Microproduction Technology of the Mechanical Engineering faculty of the Leibniz Universität Hannover. The Polytechnic University was represented by the team of the research laboratory "Nano- and Microsystem Technology",  the division of the Joint Scientific and Technological Institute of SpbPU.

A significant part of the workshop was devoted to the discussion of the latest trends in the development of mechanical sensitive elements based on microsystem technologies.
During the workshop, the participants also discussed cooperation between the participants and determined the scope of further co-operation. The main topics are the development of the technology of manufacturing miniature metal-glass devices used in sensor fabrication, multistable micromechanical devices, technologies for creating magnetic and optical sensors based on MEMS technologies, etc. Furthermore, the partners conducted joint experiments within the cleanroom facilities of the Institute of Micro Production Technology.
