On our YouTube channel we offer insights into our research. This time on the topic: Production of optical waveguides from monocrystalline diamond; presented by Eva Raffalt.

Innovative optical technologies are being realized as part of the PhoenixD Cluster of Excellence. The use of laser beam lithography and reactive ion beam etching enables the structuring of diamonds. In this way, optical components such as optical waveguides can be produced. The special chemical and physical properties of diamonds make it possible to miniaturize optical components such as waveguides and at the same time increase the efficiency of the components.
