Jobs and Thesis Topics

Open positions at the IMPT

The Institute for Microproduction Technology not only offers jobs for young scientists, but also trainee positions and jobs for technical and administrative staff.

The institute offers interested students topics for bachelor, student and master theses as well as jobs as HiWi in different areas. The announcements for student theses can be found on our website.  Announcements for HiWi jobs are listed below, but in the future also at Stellenticket.

If you are interested, you can also contact the research staff directly.

The following positions are available:

  • Student Assistant wanted for the support and execution of experiments and their evaluation (research topic: KACTUS II - Atomchip

Student Assistant wanted - starting now

A position as student assistant for the research project "KACTUS II" at the institute is to be filled at the earliest possible date. The aim of the research project is to improve the experimental setup for the production of a "Bose-Einstein condensate". This includes a general further development of the atomic chips, which should be characterized by a faster switching behavior and better vacuum properties compared to the previous version. Within the research project, the IMPT is working on issues relating to the production of the atomic chip. The selection of suitable materials and the improvement of the joining connections are the current research priorities. The improvement of the surface technology of chemical-mechanical polishing (CMP) offers further manufacturing potential. The activity is suitable for students with and without experience in a scientific working environment.

Independent and reliable working style; enjoy practical work; interest in microsystems technology; good German language skills

A diploma/diploma (FH) or a master's degree is required for employment as a reserach associate. Within the scope of the work at the Institute for Microproduction Technology, a doctorate as Dr.-Ing. should be sought after.

The Institute of Micro Production Technology offers  a three and a half year training as industrial mechanic annually (if available). The training starts on the first of August of each year and is based on the dual education system. In addition to school lessons, practical knowledge of manual and machine production in the workshop is imparted. If you have any questions, please contact our workshop manager Michael Weber.

  • Training

In the base training time, manual activities such as filing, punching, bending, scribing, riveting and thread cutting are learned. In the area of "Manufacturing on conventional machine tools" the emphasis is on turning, milling, drilling and grinding. Building on this, training is given on controlled machine tools. During the training period, various practice parts are produced.
