The Ilse-ter-Meer Award honors projects and initiatives in the areas of equal opportunities for women and men, diversity and family service. It is awarded for outstanding and sustainable projects, individual events or support measures. This year''s Ilse-ter-Meer Prize 2020 went to the "Girls and Technology" day (germ: Mädchen und Technik, MuT), organized by Selina Raumel and Rico Ottermann here at the IMPT.

In the summer semester 2020, the President of Leibniz Universität Hannover, Prof. Dr. Volker Epping, awarded the Institute of Microproduction Technology with the Ilse-ter-Meer Prize endowed with 5,000 euros.

The Ilse-ter-Meer Award honors projects and initiatives in the areas of equal opportunities for women and men, diversity, and family service. It is awarded for outstanding and sustainable projects, individual events, or support measures. This year''s Ilse-ter-Meer Prize 2020 went to the "Girls and Technology Day (MuT)" organized by the Institute for Microproduction Technology.

At the annual Girls and Technology Project Day, female students aged 13 - 18 gain insights into technical fields of study through active participation in casting, soldering, welding, design, and programming. The students are accompanied by female and male students of STEM subjects who answer their questions, report on their studies, and take any uncertainties they may have seriously. The decisive factor in the selection of the Girls and Technology Project Day for the Ilse-ter-Meer Prize 2020 was that, for more than ten years, it has made a special contribution with its diverse offerings to getting female students excited about technology and thus contributing to increasing the number of female students in the long term. In 2019, 200 female students from the Hanover region took part. The next project day is scheduled to take place on 09.11.2020.

We would like to sincerely thank the university office for choosing Mädchen und Technik and look forward to showing female students the exciting, varied and fascinating world of technology in the years to come. With the prize money we will realize the interdisciplinary project "Discover the invisible force" - measurement technology, computer science, sensor technology, magnetism, in order to connect different disciplines of the MINT courses of studies factually and in terms of content.
