Welcome to the Institute of Micro Production Technology (IMPT)
In order to meet the increasing demands for higher levels of integration and to meet the challenges of the 21st century, the trend in modern engineering is still evolving towards miniaturization. To broaden the horizons of miniaturization, the classical production technologies of micro production technology must be adapted and extended. For this purpose, new production processes and materials can be applied, which allow for a high degree of flexibility and lead to realization in small- and large-scale series. This creates the opportunity for small and medium-sized businesses to enter the investment-rich market of microsystems technology. The Institute for Micro Production Technology (IMPT) is happily serves as your creative partner and can develope solutions to meet your needs.
The main focus of the research activities at the Institute for Micro Production Technology is the design and manufacturing of - especially based on magnetic effects - actuators and sensors (MEMS—Micro Electro Mechanical Systems), mechanical processing and characterization of MEMS and MEMS materials, and the determination and adjustment of tribological properties. Developmental activities range from magnetic field sensors to measurement systems and micro motors, actuators for the manipulation of micro-optical lens systems, to even biomedical applications.
Available to the scientific and technical staff at the IMPT for their research activities is a class ISO 5 clean room, which, with its extensive facilities, allows for the implementation of microsystem processes for the production and analysis of MEMS and reliability studies. In addition, the IMPT features research laboratories with equipment that is ideal for the mechanical processing and metrological characterization of microtechnical systems and materials. The IMPT is hereby well integrated into the comprehensive facilities of the Hannover Center for Production Technology (PZH) and strengthens the research potential of the PZH in the area of micro production technology.
In addition to research activities, the IMPT is engaged in education with a wide range of lectures and student research opportunities in order to train the engineers of tomorrow for the challenges of the future.
